Benjamin Atkins was an American serial killer who was active in the early 1990s. He was born on August 26, 1968, in Detroit, Michigan. Atkins targeted women, primarily prostitutes, and was known for his brutal and violent attacks.
Atkins was convicted of killing 11 women in the Detroit area between 1991 and 1992. He would pick up his victims, often offering them money for sex, and then strangle them to death.
After his last victim survived his attack and identified him to the police, Atkins was arrested and confessed to the murders. He was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Atkins died in prison on September 17, 1997, from esophageal cancer. He remains one of the most notorious serial killers in Detroit's history.
